Let me first say that we are fine, and I hope all of you are too. My prayers go out to all of those who have been ravaged by the recent hurricanes and the aftermath, as well as to those who live in areas that dealt with dangerous weather patterns as a side effect from those hurricanes.
Our area faced 50 - 60+ mph winds yesterday. Hundreds of thousands are without power and trees, signs and powerlines are down all over the place. Two doors down, a tree fell on top a house. John helped remove it with his chainsaw. He was hit in the head by blowing debris, but he was not seriously hurt, thankfully. Our property was spared any major damage. Some siding on our soffet came loose (but it has been loose before and repaired before) and our big maple lost some limbs. Nothing major. My in laws lost about 3 rows of shingles from their roof and the cap. My parents just had stuff blown over like their big gas grill and patio swing.
We were in one of the few plats that never lost power. We did lose phones. They were still out as of this morning. We lost cable and internet for part of the day, but those came back up last night. My mom is loading up my freezer this morning with her food, as the news says it will take multiple days to restore power to everyone. I know this issue is widespread across our state and others too. We were lucky.
I hope you are all okay. Please check in as you can!
